News EEA and Norway Grants

The call for proposals in the Research achtivity co-financed under the EEA/Norway Grants’ Research and Scholarship Programme in Latvia closed on 30th September 2014.

There have been 73 project proposals for the total amount of co-financing 37 740 830 euro submitted up to the deadline. It is almost 10 times more than the total available co-financing of 4 435 556 euro under the Research activity, where Norway grants’ co-financing amount up to 3 992 000 euros and Latvian budget co-financing - 443 556 euros. The call was launched on 8 July 2014.

The State Education development agency (SEDA) has now started the administrative and eligibility evaluation of the project proposals. It is estimated to be finished by the end of October. Afterwards the project proposals will be passed on to international experts for quality evalutaion. The results are expected within two months after the administrative evaluation. The final results of evaluation will be announced in January 2015.

The overall objective of the Research Activity is to enhance research-based knowledge development in Latvia through research cooperation in basic and applied research between Norway and Latvia. The Research Activity shall strengthen bilateral relations with the aim of stimulating long-term cooperation between Latvian and Norwegian research institutions, their capacity and competence-building. The Project applications are submitted by the registered Latvian Research organisations in cooperation with research organisations from Norway.
